According to the dictionary
of the Real Academia, to explain is to declare, express, to let know what a
person think. In Science, the explanation is known for its rigor in connection
with the origin or reason of a phenomenon, process, etc.
In order to give a good explanation, teachers must enrich it, by exploring and
using the knowledge and experiences children already have in relation to the different
topics. Of course, teachers must try to encourage participation, motivating
students to make interventions on a particular topic.
The skills that are developed
in children with an explanation are: observation, analysis, research,
exploration, development of questions, and the expression of ideas.
Children will be able to establish the similarities and differences between the substantial qualities of familiar objects by different visual, auditory, haptic, tasting and smelling stimulations, communicating thoughts and ideas in verbal and symbolic relations, considering their natural environment.
